This great book recognizes the fact that us humans, with our office jobs and busy lifestyles, are drifting further and further away from the nature that we came from, and that negatively affects both our health and our happiness. That kind of sucks, so you’ll find lots of inspiration to find your own way back and reconnecting with the great outdoors – that doesn’t really suck at all! Whether you like hiking, swimming, watching wildlife, or finding things to eat in the wild, you can find what you need to get out there and experience the fantastic nature firsthand with this book. Let the adventures start right now!
This is such a useful book if you want to step out of your comfort zone and see how well you can do in the wild, all while making the most of your outdoor experiences. You’ll learn how to find and craft all the resources you need to get by in any situation and any climate, so it doesn’t matter where you’re planning on going, this book will help you wherever you decide to go! It lets you know how to protect yourself from wind, heat and cold and how to find your own food – it even tells you what you need to bring on your trip!
This book, full of gorgeous, inspirational photos, is perfect if you’re looking to experience a little bit of that lovely nature every single day. As you can tell by the name, it has one suggestion a day for a whole year, and some of them are very easy and quick – such as stopping to smell the wildflowers – whereas some take a bit longer, like creating a wildlife area in your garden. What they all have in common, is they will help you be more aware and reconnect with Mother Nature – prepare yourself for some sensory explosions!
Now, this is a book for the real hardcore survivors out there. This guy, fittingly named Bear, has completed challenges all over the world and has experienced next to every terrain, climate and weather there is, and this is a collection of all his tips and tricks on how to survive all sorts of conditions and situations. The skills he teaches you are truly extraordinary and include flying a plane in an emergency, navigate using the stars, how to escape a burning building and to survive a bear attack. Wow. Did you get all that? If not (or if you want to actually know how it’s done), go buy this book!
You didn’t think that we would leave out how to stay satisfyingly well-fed in the wild, did you? That is something we would never do, trust us on that one! Fresh air seems to make you hungrier than usual (why is that, anyway?) and this book has a whole bunch of recipes for hiking, camping and sleeping under the stars – basically wherever you have an open fire going. You’ll find out how to make the best sandwiches, what preserved foods are the most delicious, and the best way to make hash browns – and the best part is, there’s a book (“Delicious Wintertime”) for colder days too!
If you think that Bear knows all there is to know about what’s what in the wild, just wait until you see this book! This will be your Rosetta stone when trying to understand what your surroundings – land, sky, animals, plants, clouds, to name a few – are saying. You see, when you know what to look for a whole new language is available to you, and there are over 850 clues and signs to learn about. And it’s not limited to the wilderness, either: there’s info about tracking, city and night walks, and weather forecasting, too. You’ll never need google again (to check if it’s gonna rain, anyway).
Well this is pretty exciting, isn’t it? After reading one or two of these books (or why not get them all) you’ll definitely be ready for all kinds of both exciting and relaxing outdoor adventures. Know of a great book we’ve missed? Do let us know!
